Capt. Andrew Turner

As a Southern Maryland native, Andrew Turner has been fishing since he was old enough to walk. He has pursued both fresh and saltwater species across the US as well as abroad in Argentina and Africa. Andrew has gained the majority of his experience fishing the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries from the Bay Bridge to Cape Henry. He began his fishing career working for Capt. Dale Scheible as a mate during his freshman year at St. Mary's College of Maryland. A year later, Capt. Dale sold his boat and Andrew began working part time for Capt. John Guy out of St. Jerome 's Creek where he learned the ropes from many of the local captains. While working on charter boats from Solomon's Island to Pt. Lookout, Andrew met Capt. Joe Scrivener. Capt. Joe was in need of a full time mate, both on the Chesapeake Bay and in the Atlantic. While mating for Capt. Joe, Andrew logged hundreds of trips over the next 3 years. Having fulfilled the requirements as a first mate, Andrew received his U.S. Coast Guard "Near Coastal License" and an "Inland Masters License" at the age of 21.

Upon graduating from St. Mary's in 2006, Capt. Andrew was approached by the new owner of Fin Finder Charters, as the boat was in need of a full time first mate. With a busy schedule for the upcoming season, Captain Sonney was also looking for a young skilled captain to relieve him and allow him to take some much deserved time off. Andrew jumped at the opportunity to be able to operate the Fin Finder and has quickly learned the new boat and clientele.

While Capt. Andrew may be one of the youngest captains on the Bay (being born in 1983), he is also one of the most knowledgeable, hardworking, and well respected. Capt. Andrew has had years of first hand experience learning both how to fish as well how to please customers from many of the most respected and best captains on the Bay. You can rest assured that whether Capt. Andrew is your first mate or your captain, he is very dedicated and will do everything in his power, always going the extra mile to make sure your day on the Bay is a fun, safe, productive, and a truly memorable experience.
